Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos' manager Tito Ortiz explained that the former Strikeforce women's featherweight champion could not make the cut to bantamweight, so she asked for her release from her current Zuffa contract."Right now, we're actually waiting for [the] UFC to release [Santos]," said Ortiz on Inside MMA. "We asked for them to release her, so Dana White actually talked to me yesterday. They gave an offer, I went to 'Cyborg' and she said she didn't want to do it."
Ortiz went on that the UFC offered a huge deal to Santos, but she only wanted a four fight one, which included a 140 pound catchweight contest with rival and current UFC champion Ronda Rousey.
There have been medical concerns from Santos' camp that she can't make a healthy cut to bantamweight, even with the UFC offering nutritionist Mike Dolce to help make the drop in weight safely. Rousey and White said the fight would only take place at 135 pounds.
Santos is just coming off a yearlong suspension for steroids.
