Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was scheduled to face Alistair Overeem at UFC 160: Velasquez Vs. Silva II in May. However, a quad injury knocked Overeem out. While UFC officials have hinted that the bout would be rescheduled for later in the year, dos Santos doesn't appear to be a patient fighter. Instead, he wants to get back into the Octagon in May.
"I'm training to fight in May and expect that to happen," said dos Santos, via the social media site Instagram. "No matter the opponent, waiting is wasting time."
"Cigano" was defeated by Cain Velasquez to close out 2012, as he lost the UFC heavyweight title by decision. Overeem and dos Santos were originally scheduled to meet last year, but "The Reem" failed a drug test and was removed.
