There were reports that middleweight championAnderson Silva had suffered an injury while training for his UFC 162 main event. His manager Ed Soares debunked those reports and said Silva is fine. The unknowing left No. 1 contender Chris Weidman freaking out."I was like, 'Don't tell me this, don't tell me this,'"said Weidman on The MMA Hour. "I'm freaking out. I'm like, I need to go home and take a nap. I need to go exit the world for a little bit. It was just too much and then we ended up finding out it wasn't true, knock on wood."
Weidman and Silva will both make their first presence of 2013 when they collide. Silva looks to continue his untouched UFC run, as Weidman wants to take the belt and his perfect record home.
They headline UFC 162 on July 6. It comes from Las Vegas, NV's MGM Grand Garden Arena.
