Quarterback Robert Griffin III will start the Washington Redskins' opener on "Monday Night Football" on Sept. 9 against the Philadelphia Eagles, sources close to the quarterback said Wednesday.
Griffin still is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews on Thursday night, before Washington plays at Tampa Bay in the teams' preseason finale, to get medical clearance. The Redskins-Eagles game (7 p.m. ET) is the first of two MNF games on ESPN on Monday. Houston visits San Diego in the second game.
