Round 1: Santos scores with the first takedown and does minimal damage on top, as Cariaso tries to get out. Santos, though, notices and moves quickly to the mount and nearly secures a leglock. Santos wearing on Cariaso inside the clinch, but a spinning elbow allows him to get out. Big kicks to the body land, followed by some stiff shots with the right. Santos catches him against the fence and lands a right that did damage, as swelling is forming under the eye of Cariaso. One more takedown for Santos to secure the round.
Round 2: Cariaso firing off some nice leg kicks to start the round, pushing the action a little more instead of backing up. Santos, though, counters a combo with a jab that does damage. Cariaso might not be able to survive a stand-up war with Santos, who appears to have much more power in his hands. Stiff right jab connects by Santos, as does another, and he is picking him apart. The crowd embraces the striking contest, and the fighters oblige, with Cariaso hitting a pair of uppercuts. Santos stunned and Cariaso goes on the attack. Santos tries for a takedown but Cariaso winds up on top and is trying to mount. Nice ground-and-pound by Cariaso, who is doing damage and working to pass at the same time. Santos recovers and gets out, but is eating shots now in bunches. Cuts and swelling on the face of Santos, who has been decimated over this first three minutes. Four straight jabs land by Cariaso, who has no defense right now. All Cariaso, and Santos looks to be almost finished. Under 50 seconds, and Cariaso catches him against the fence and gets the stoppage. Santos didn’t fall, but the ref had seen enough and stepped in.
