Flair was ordered to pay $4,000 a month to Jacqueline Beems following their separation last summer, and reportedly failed to pay $32,352.51 following two court orders. Flair can avoid going to jail if he pays the amount owed, and he told the Observer that he planned to pay Beems on Wednesday.
"The reason I didn't pay my ex-wife the 32 grand is because my son died and I was in the hospital for a month," Flair told the newspaper. "I was in the hospital for a month with a blood clot. I didn't go to work for three months."
An arrest warrant was also recently issued for Beems, who turned herself in to authorities today in Charlotte and was released on $500 bond. Beems was charged with a misdemeanor after she allegedly made threatening phone calls to Flair's girlfriend, Wendy Barlow Kidder, last October.
