UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has not fought since 2011 when he successfully defeated current UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.Since that time, "The Dominator" has undergone two knee surgeries and watched as the UFC created an interim champion in his absence.
While no direct date has been set for his return, Cruz did make it known that he is moving in the right direction via Twitter recently.
"Leaving LA now,n doc just cleared me to start boxing(sparring):)-one step at a time!C u wit some new tricks @UFCFanExpo!! #bettereveryday"
Renan Barao, the interim champion, is also sidelined at the moment following a training injury. Cruz is 19-1 in his career, including wins over the likes of Urijah Faber, Scott Jorgensen and Joseph Benavidez.
