Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks
The co-main event is next, as former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit (28-6) meets Johny Hendricks (14-1). The winner is expected to become the No. 1 contender to the title. The third man inside the Octagon will be Marc Goddard.
Round 1: Hendricks quickly lands a huge left that rocks Condit, but he remains upright. Hendricks is cutting off the distance, and he comes flying in with another series of lefts that hurt Condit. A takedown and Hendricks walks away, as he wants this bout standing. Condit took those three big shots by Hendricks but is still in this fight. Hendricks with a double-leg takedown with ease. Condit scrambles and is looking for a submission, but is unable to grab anything. Hendricks back to throwing heavy lefts, and he scores with a third takedown. A fourth successful takedown by "Bigg Rigg," but Condit avoids taking any damage from this one. Hendricks lands another left and has him pinned against the fence. He goes for a takedown and Condit takes his back with 30 seconds left. Hendricks stands up, but is unable to get anything locked in. They exchange heavy strikes to end the round and the crowd greets them with a thunderous applause.
