PRELIMINARY CARD: Yves Jabouin vs. Dustin Pague
We open up the night in the bantamweight division with Yves Jabouin (18-8) taking on Dustin Pague (11-8). The referee will be Adam Cheadle.
Round 1: Jabouin already showing his versatility, flashing off some nice kicks and bringing Pague down to the ground with a modified takedown. Pague in full guard, nearly secures a quick triangle but Jabouin avoids it and is looking to put in some punishing offense. Pague trying to isolate the right arm and possibly lock up a submission. Pague nearly gets another armbar locked in, but Jabouin fights through it. Another armbar locked in by Pague, but Jabouin again fends it off. Both guys end up with their legs tied together, as Pague is on top and lands some nice blows. Pague loses another submission, this time a triangle attempt, as Jabouin is able to wind up on top and punishes him to conclude the round.
Round 2: Jabouin landing some nice lefts and rights off the start, as Pague clinches and scores a trip takedown. Pague looking to move into a controlling position. Pague mounting and punishing, as he takes the back, locking in a body triangle and continuing to reign down blows. Pague with a modified choke/crank on the neck/face of Jabouin, who is fighting to break the hold but still has a body triangle locked on him. Pague reverses and mounts again, landing an elbow and more ground-and-pound with two-plus minutes left. Jabouin is able to get on top, connecting with an elbow after Pague throws up another triangle choke.
Round 3: Jabouin scores a takedown right off the bat, as Pague is fighting off his back and looking for a submission. Jabouin is on top, but looks to be the more tired fighter. Jabouin throwing elbows from the top, as Pague tries to grab hold of the arm each time and secure a triangle attempt. Really good battle here so far between these two with plenty of submissions and a good amount of striking. Big hammer-style punch by Jabouin. Jabouin throws a spinning kick after they are stood back up, and an illegal - but uncalled - knee lands by Pague, who is in the mount with 90 seconds left. Pague seeking an armbar, but moves to throw more elbows to the face and punish. Jabouin is able to reverse, but Pague locks up a triangle as he does. Jabouin, though, gets out and back on top with 30 seconds left.
