Round 1: Schaub asks for a touch of gloves and Mitrione declines. These two have had issues over the last few weeks, and it intensified at the weigh-ins on Friday with them needing to be separated. Will Schaub stand and trade, or use the same approach as he did vs. Lavar Johnson? “The Hybrid” lands a right to start the action and they engage in a mini-flurry. Mitrione with a big inside leg kick, and Schaub misses on a wild left. Huge cut opened up already on the forehead of Schaub, which came from an accidental head butt. Mitrione also cut on side of his left eye and is talking to Schaub while moving forward. Another inside leg kick, this time to the body, by Mitrione. Schaub with a flurry, landing lefts and rights, and he scores with a double-leg takedown. Schaub has an arm-in choke as we go under a minute and Mitrione goes out cold. He motioned that he was fine, but Schaub tightened the grip and Mitrione went out. Nice sign of respect, as Mitrione comes over and congratulates Schaub on the win.
