Brian Vickers on Tuesday will be named the full-time driver of the No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Sprint Cup car for 2014, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com.
Michael Waltrip Racing issued a release Monday stating there will be a major announcement at the NASCAR Hall of Fame on Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET. On the release was a picture of Vickers with primary sponsor Aaron's prominently displayed in blue print.
Team officials were not available for comment, but team owner Michael Waltrip has made it clear for several months that Vickers was his choice to take over the 55 car after this season.
Vickers has split the past two seasons in the car with Mark Martin.
Vickers picked up his second career Cup win in June at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. MWR general manager Ty Norris was emphatic then that the plan still was to put Vickers in the 55 if sponsorship with Aaron's could be worked out.
