According to the National Weather Service, there is more than a 90 percent chance of rain for the area Saturday and a 50 percent chance on Sunday.

Sprint Cup Series qualifying is set for 12:10 p.m. Eastern on Saturday, and the Nationwide race is set to follow at 3 p.m. Eastern.

The Sprint Cup races is scheduled for 1 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.

If Cup qualifying is canceled, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Elliott Sadler would be the one driver among the 44 entered to miss the field.

The starting order for the Cup race would be determined by practice speeds from Friday afternoon. Skies were partly cloudy Friday morning with a 40 percent chance of rain. Cup practice is scheduled for 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. today.

In the past, when Nationwide races have been postponed, they either have been run after the Cup race on Sunday or Monday morning.

The track does not have lights. Sunset is scheduled for 8:29 p.m. ET (7:29 p.m. local).

NASCAR has its new track drying system at the track, which could cut the time to dry the 2.66-mile oval to about 90 minutes.
