The brouhaha over our soda problems belies a shifting beverage landscape: Water has grabbed the No. 1 beverage slot from soda, with Americans drinking 58 gallons a year of the former and 44 of the latter, perBeverage Digest via the AP. No wonder, then, that Coca-Cola is hitching its cart a little more tightly to the bottled-water bandwagon: The company will debut a calorie-free line of carbonated water called "Fruitwater" on April 1, reports the AP. Just don't expect any fruit or fruit juice in it.

The drink will be part of Coca-Cola's Glaceau unit, which claims Vitaminwater and Smartwater. While zero-calorie Vitaminwater versions contain stevia, Fruitwater will be sweetened with sucralose, aka Splenda. Like Vitaminwater, it'll be "enhanced with nutrients," in this case, B vitamins, magnesium, and zinc. Expect to pay $1 to $1.25 for a 16.9-ounce bottle; flavor options will include black raspberry, orange mango, strawberry kiwi, lemon lime, and watermelon punch.
