Thousands of passengers are being affected by flight cancellations at Los Angeles International Airport due to the shooting there this morning. Most of the airport was shut down immediately after the shooting so that police could secure the area and treat the wounded. FlightAware.com says more than 120 flights in and out of the airport have been canceled. Hundreds of passengers are gathering at hotels near the airport with baggage in hand wondering when they'll be able to get a flight out.
Airport officials say there's no set time for airport operations to be fully restored. Some flights have been diverted to other airports in the region. So far, there is no major ripple effect on nationwide air travel.
