Pettis was scheduled to face Josh Thomson this month before a knee injury knocked him out and sent him to the operating table.
“The doctor said six-to-eight months. I’m hoping six months,” said Pettis, who torn his posterior cruciate ligament. “Hopefully I’ll be back for a July fight.”
While Thomson would likely secure his status as No. 1 contender if he defeats Benson Henderson in January, “Showtime” is already looking to another challenger.
“Nate Diaz,” he answered, when asked who he wants to face. “Nate Diaz has been talking so much. I hope he works his way up and we get to fight.”
