When Antonio "Big Foot" Silva knocked out Alistair Overeem at UFC 156, he was able to land in the No. 1 contender spot.It will now be Silva vs. Cain Velasquez for the heavyweight championship. Velasquez defeated Silva in May of last year to get another crack at the belt.
Silva looked at the loss as a lesson for his upcoming shot at the gold.
"That was good because I learned a lot," said Silva to TATAME. "I became a better athlete. I've been correcting my mistakes, trying to improve what I'm good at. I'm sure this fight is going to be different."
It'll have to be different if Silva wants his first taste of a UFC title as the first encounter saw Velasquez dominate.
In that fight, Velasquez took Silva to the ground early and cut him above the eye. Within a few minutes, a bloody Silva was unable to defend himself as Velasquez continued to lay in the ground and pound for the first round stoppage.
