Former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit wasn't able to stop the takedowns of Johny Hendricks, losing a decision at UFC 158: St-Pierre Vs. Diaz Saturday evening.Hendricks (15-1) positioned himself for a future title fight by scoring 12 takedowns against Condit (28-7). The loss was the second straight for the former WEC champion.
"Johny fought a really smart fight," Condit said. "He was able to get the takedowns."
Condit stated that the plan going in was to "keep him moving backwards, keep the pressure on him, but I wasn't able to stop the takedowns." He felt like that "lost him the fight."
After surviving a furious attack by "Bigg Rigg," Condit was able to come back and unload with his own offensive skills. He is now 13-3 in his last 16 pro fights.
