Cesar Gracie wasn't about to make an excuse for Nate Diaz and his loss to Benson Henderson for the UFC lightweight title last year. Instead, he laid most of it out on the table during a recent interview with BJPenn.com."There were contractual issues and stuff like that," Gracie said. "I mean, people don't know this, but literally a couple weeks before the fight, Nate wasn't even sure he was fighting; it was that bad."
Gracie added that everything "got resolved, but you know, it's hard to train for a fight like that with that mentality."
Diaz (16-8) was unable to figure out Henderson, suffering a decision loss in the main event on FOX. He will return to action later this year against Josh Thomson.
