With news that Renan Barao could be forced out of the planned UFC 161: Barao Vs. Wineland main event with Eddie Wineland, Chael Sonnen was asked on Twitter about facing Wanderlei Silva in that spot. Sonnen, helping with the FUEL TV and FX shows Saturday night, responded.
"Wand can't be a main event," Sonnen wrote on Twitter. "I'd sell more tickets taking on a mop."
Sonnen issued Silva a challenge last week, but "The Axe Murderer" claimed there has been no contract presented to him yet.
Rumors have the two set to face each other in August on FOX Sports 1, but that remains up in the air as of now.
