The third time was not a charm for Chael Sonnen Saturday night, as UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones successfully defended his title against him at UFC 159: Jones Vs. Sonnen. With two failed attempts at securing the UFC middleweight title vs. Anderson Silva in his past, Sonnen seemed unsure if he would continue fighting.
"I am going to think it through, but I'm not gonna hang around," Sonnen said. "If there is not a road to the title, this sport is not for me. I believe that was probably my last opportunity."
Sonnen admitted that he was "surprised by the power and size" of Jones, who took him down and finished him in the first round with just seconds left. Despite protesting the stoppage soon after, Sonnen said he had "no problem with the stoppage."
