The rematch between UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva will take place before 2013 ends.UFC president Dana White appeared on ESPN's SportsCenter Saturday evening to confirm that the bout will headline the year-ending UFC 168 card in Las Vegas.
The previous main event between UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate will now serve as the co-main event on December 28 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
Earlier this month - in the MGM arena - Weidman knocked out Silva, becoming the first fighter to do that, and the first person to defeat "The Spider" in the UFC.
In a recorded statement aired on the show, Silva said "I back. Trust me. I back." The Brazilian had previously stated no desire for a rematch, but changed his tune in the days following the loss.
