Dominick Cruz had his eyes on the interim bantamweight contest earlier today and was quick to provide feedback on Renan Barao's performance."Nothing really concerned me [about Barao]," said Cruz. "I'm not just going to stand in front of him and strike all the time. I'm going to mix it up, keep him guessing. Those are all things I understand and I'm going to break this down in my head when I have to fight Barao. He's going to be confused when he gets in there and tries looking for me."
Barao needed up until the fourth round before he submitted Michael McDonald. The win was his 29th in a row and his first at defending the interim title.
After the win, Barao wished Cruz a speedy recovery and was open to them unifying the titles.
Cruz is the current UFC bantamweight champion, but has been out with an ACL injury since October 2011. His surgery didn't go as planned and he could miss another year of competition, which caused the UFC to have Barao defend his title at UFC on FUEL earlier in the day from England.
