Anderson Silva's manager Ed Soares heard the middleweight champion say he was open to making welterweight for a shot at Georges St-Pierre. While the champ wants it, Soares isn't certain that it's the smartest move to drop 15 pounds for the possible fight."I don't find it realistic for him to go down to 170 pounds," said Soares to Middle Easy TV. "He said he could make 170 pounds a while ago. I just don't know if that's realistic. If he can, he can but I don't see him going down to 170."
In October, Silva took his 16th consecutive UFC win. He has expressed interest in a superfight with St-Pierre since then, but nothing has come of it. St-Pierre noted that there are several names in the division he must defend his belt against first after coming back from an ACL injury.
Silva is rumored for a July return against Chris Weidman. That fight has not been confirmed by the UFC or either fighter. St-Pierre returns at UFC 158 to take on Nick Diaz.
