Chad Mendes lived up to his nickname “Money,” earning his fourth straight knockout win by becoming the first person to ever finish Clay Guida Saturday night at UFC 164.

Mendes, a one-time title contender to Jose Aldo and the UFC featherweight belt, hasn’t lost since a defeat to Aldo in early 2012.

“I needed to make a statement,” Mendes said. “I want that title shot. I want Jose Aldo. I want the belt.”

Mendes (15-1) is just the second UFC fighter to earn four straight knockout finishes, and became the first to do it to Guida in 44 professional fights.

“I knew the punch landed clean, but he’s been hit hard before,” Mendes said. “I needed to take my time and I found another hard punch to the chin that ended it.”

Mendes was in complete control of the bout going into the third, fending off several Guida takedown attempts. Right off the bat in the final five minutes, he landed a sickening right that floored “The Carpenter” to the ground.
