In a battle of former UFC heavyweight champions, it was Josh Barnett getting his hand raised at UFC 164 over Frank Mir.

Barnett, competing inside the Octagon for the first time in over a decade, delivered a vicious knee that completely floored Mir.

Mir pounced back up after the ref stepped in, protesting the stoppage, and Barnett didn’t blame him for doing so.

“Me and Frank are the kind of guys who would rather die than quit,” Barnett said.

Barnett left the UFC after failing a post-fight drug test after defeating Randy Couture for the belt. He competed around the world, adding in several pro wrestling matches, as well.

“It feels great (to be back),” he said. “Boos, cheers, I’ll take them all; it all powers me, feeds the need.”

When asked by Joe Rogan, who he picked up before the post-fight interview, if he agreed with the stoppage, Barnett offered to fight Mir again.

“We can come back after the main event and do it again,” Barnett stated. “If we have to do it in the parking lot, we can. I got enough to go around for everybody.”
