When Anderson Silva dropped his middleweight title, he said in the post-fight interview that he didn't want a rematch. UFC president Dana White assured fans after the show that Silva would change his mind once he had time to think about it. Days later Silva asked for the rematch, but light heavyweight and fellow Brazilian Lyoto Machida thinks he was pushed into the rematch."He maybe didn't really want to fight for the belt again but the UFC demanded it," said Machida to Globo. "I believe it wasn't only Anderson's intentions that prevailed in this situation."
The rematch with Chris Weidman goes down at UFC 168 on December 28. They will be the final UFC fight of 2013.
Machida returns today in the co-main event of UFC 163. He's taking on Phil Davis as the two look to secure a No. 1 contender spot.
UFC 163 comes from the HSBC Arena.
