Former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans returned to the Octagon for the first time in several months recently, but was unable to solve Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. "Suga" was defeated via decision in the co-main event of UFC 156: Aldo Vs. Edgar. Now, after remaining relatively quiet since the match, Evans responded to those that believe he might retire during the weigh-in show for UFC 157: Rousey Vs. Carmouche Friday on FUEL TV.
"It was a mental fight for me and I lost it, mentally speaking," Evans stated. "I had a great training camp, but no matter what far you are, it happens and you have to make sure you are ready to fight on all levels."
Evans (17-3-1) looked directly into the camera and stated, "I'm going to be back." The former Ultimate Fighter winner had dropped his last two, losing to Jon Jones in a bout for the title last year.
