T.J. Grant did what so many before him couldn't and finished Gray Maynard Saturday night at UFC 160: Velasquez Vs. Bigfoot 2 to claim a future title shot.It was previously announced that the winner of Grant-Maynard would become the No. 1 contender, and Grant did it in impressive fashion.
"I am so happy right now," Grant said. "I practiced that for the last eight weeks in training."
Grant was referencing the first right combo that he connected and that dropped "The Bully" to the ground. Grant followed up, landing several knees and another right that floored Maynard.
"I have been working that exact combo," he added. "Just beautiful. I have nothing but respect for Gray."
As for Benson Henderson and the UFC lightweight title, Grant stated, "I want to fight Benson Henderson. I want to be the champ."
