When Jorge Masvidal heard he was going to be fighting - again - so quickly inside the Octagon, he expressed his emotions with a reflection.Masvidal will take on Mike Chiesa in the prelim main event of UFC On FOX: Johnson Vs. Moragathis Saturday night from the KeyArena in Seattle.
"I felt like I was eight years old and it was Christmas, and I got a bike," said Masvidal, during a recent interview with UFC.com. "I was just excited."
Masvidal (24-7) earned his second straight win with a decision triumph over Tim Means this past April. Since 2010, he is 4-1 overall, with the lone loss coming at the hands of Gilbert Melendez for the Strikeforce lightweight title.
The 28-year-old described himself as a much different fighter "when I'm competing three, four times a year."
"I'm on my game," he added. "When I'm only fighting once a year and fights are spread out with eight months in between, it's hard to stay in shape and stay motivated in the gym."
